The Raiders announced on Tuesday they have added to the offensive line with the signing of veteran free-agent Tackle Alex Barron.
Barron, 6 foot 8 315 pound tackle, is a veteran with 87 games and 75 starts at both the Left and Right tackle positions with the Rams, Cowboys, Saints, and the Seahawks. He was selected in the first round in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Rams.
Barron started all 5 seasons with the Rams before he was traded to the Cowboys in 2010. In the season opener with the Cowboys Barron was flagged three times with holding calls. After the game he lost his starting job and the Cowboys cut him at the end of the season. In 2011 he was put on injured reserve with the Saints and then later released. In 2012 he struggled in the Seahawks training camp and did not even make the team. Barron was known as one of the most penalized offensive lineman in the league.
Barron is the first offensive player signed by the Raiders since the beginning of free agency.
