The Kansas City Chiefs have brought another familiar face back to KC by resigning long snapper Thomas Gafford.

I don’t know if anyone remembers the “Long Snapping Battle” in 2009 where Gafford and Tanner Purdum competed for the long snapping job in KC. Well Gafford won that battle and has been with the Chiefs ever since.

Gafford was declared a Free Agent this offseason and the chiefs risked not having a viable long snapper for the 2013 season.

This is an important position that requires good skill and technique. Just imagine what would happen if you were on your 20 yard line in a tied game and the long snapper put it way over the punters head. The long snapper must by calm cool and collected and deliver a good ball to the punter or holder.

Just another good move by Dorsey and Reid.
