My first choice for this number 2 CB spot was
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie because I thought Sean Smith would be too expensive. Then Denver stepped in and signed Cromartie which go…t me a little worried. I really did not see to many good values out there in Free Agency that we could afford. It seemed that Denver may have stole our only hope.
Never fear GM John Dorsey is here… Dorsey swept up Sean Smith to fill that very BIG need for cheap, and got Smith in his prime at 26 years old. This is huge news Chiefs fans! We now have two very good press CB’s that will free up Berry and Robinson to move all over the field. We can also now cover 3 or more rec. sets with ease. This had to be addressed due to being in the same division as the Broncos Payton Manning, Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker. If we can make Payton hold onto the ball for just a bit longer it will create opportunity for our pass rush to get to him. Look for Tamba and Houston to have yet another big year. Johnson should have a big year as well because I think teams will try to run the ball against the Chiefs more.
The only position up in the air right now is that other ILB’ing spot. Will KC fill it in FA, or will they wait to address it in the Draft? I don’t really know the answer to that. My pick is to go after a former Chief that is a big hitter and will bring a little attitude back into this Chiefs D! Bernard Pollard is an aging Safety but I think he can make a move to LB. Pollard is known for sticking his nose into plays and destroying RB’s, WR’s, and TE’s. So why not put him into a spot were he can do what he loves every single snap. Pollard next to Johnson will also give the Chiefs the ability to pull Pollard off to cover the middle of the field. Something the Chiefs have lacked for quite some time. This would be a very risky move but one I think could work very well. I think KC is well on it’s way to being considered the best D in the NFL next year. Now its time for them to Put up or Shut up… -KC58
